Piano, Guitar, & Ukulele Instructor

Owen Kelley (he/him)

Originally from the Washington D.C. area, Owen has been involved with music since the age of six. He initially despised learning piano at this age, instead wanting to play electric guitar, which his parents eventually granted. Classic rock and folk became the bulk of his musical journey until college, where he unexpectedly rekindled a deep connection with piano, leading him to pursue music composition and production while getting a degree in film production at Emerson College. There he wrote and produced over a dozen original scores for student films as well as his own short films before graduating in 2017.

Since then Owen has continued to compose, perform, and improvise in classical, electronic, choral, jazz, prog, ambient, and indie genres. Since moving to Portland he has played keyboard and guitar in various gigging bands, as well as recorded in studio. In 2022 he left his gigging projects to commit to solo piano and keyboard works, publishing three studio albums under his name with more on the way. Owen is also an experienced video and audio editor, having edited and mixed short films, advertisements, and podcasts. Since the pandemic he has been a featured artist and content creator for Casio keyboards.

He is a strong believer in music as a fundamental dimension of life, and its power to cross nearly all barriers and bring all kinds of people together. He is honored to share what he knows and endlessly grateful for all opportunities to engage with music.

He’s always down to jam, chat, share a cup of tea, and play a good game of chess.
