Vesper bills students in advance for private lessons on a monthly basis. Payments are due on the first day of each month. For example, if there will be four lessons in October the full payment is due by October 1st. Students pay online through our email invoicing system. There is an annual $25 registration fee per student, which covers student events and most sheet music. A $10 late fee applies to payment received after the first day of the month and there is a $20 fee for returned/rejected payments. For any billing questions please email us at

To reschedule a lesson or for any scheduling questions please email David at or call our office. Please do not contact your teacher directly to reschedule.

Students must give 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a lesson. If a student does not give 24 hours' notice the lesson will not be rescheduled and the student will be charged. Unfortunately, we cannot give refunds for missed group classes. If a student requests to reschedule with 24 hours in advance Vesper will make every effort to accommodate the request. One student-rescheduled lesson is allowed per student per month. If a student is sick, we offer Skype or FaceTime lessons.

As working musicians, our teachers will occasionally have performances that conflict with lesson times. If this occurs, students will be notified at least 30 days in advance and will be provided with a substitute teacher for the lesson. Musical performances are necessary for our teachers to maintain their skills and value as educators.

Without a prior agreement such as a summer lesson package or gift certificate, students must give 30 days' notice to discontinue private lessons. If a student discontinues without 30 days' notice they are still responsible for the full month's payment.

To pause lessons for a month or more, we can reserve your weekly time slot with your teacher for a fee of half the month’s rate until you choose to resume lessons.

In the event of inclement weather, Vesper School of Music typically follows the lead of Portland Public Schools and our office will be closed. Students will be notified via email, Instagram and Facebook of any closures. Lessons will still occur at the scheduled date and time via Skype or FaceTime. Unfortunately we are unable to reschedule lessons or provide refunds during inclement weather.
