Community Outreach & Events Coordinator
Voice, Piano & Guitar Instructor
Holly Winchell began piano lessons at the age of five and has pursued a life filled with music ever since. Between starring in musical theatre productions, weekly piano lessons, singing Neil Young in the living room with her dad, or learning her older sister’s classical voice literature just for fun, Holly’s passion for all genres of music was cultivated early and has only grown with time.
All through middle and high school Holly studied vocal literature in the greater Portland, OR area under the instruction of Marissa Overstreet in a variety of genres including Classical, Musical Theatre, Jazz, Gospel and Popular music styles. Holly’s early accomplishments in vocal performance include Second place in the OMEA state solo competition, multiple lead roles in local musical theater productions and acceptance into several elite choirs including All State choir all four years of high school.
Holly continued studying voice in Portland State University’s vocal performance program with the director of Opera, Christine Meadows and began teaching voice and piano privately in 2013. This was after several years of writing music, touring nationally and recording her first full length album, Ravens with producer Aaron Marsh in Lakeland, Florida. Holly continues regular studio work with Deeper Well Records contributing background vocals to nationally acclaimed artists including Liz Vice, Josh Garrels, Josh White and Evan Way and released her second full length solo album, Light and Bloom, under Deeper Well Records in 2016.
Having benefited greatly from multi-genre training, Holly loves to incorporate varying styles of literature into her lessons. Holly works with students of all ages to set achievable goals that make singing and playing piano a life giving addition to their lives. Students of Holly’s, with minimal previous experience, have gone on to be able to sing, accompany themselves on the piano while doing so, and acquire the skills needed to begin writing their own compositions in as little as a few months. From teaching young students the joy (and discipline) of learning piano, to re-invigorating adults in their pursuit of creativity, Holly genuinely loves building relationships with her students and giving them a renewed sense of identity and vitality through music.
