Colleen first sat down at a piano at the age of four and music has been the main focus of her life ever since. She spent many of her early days dancing around her living room listening to The Allman Brothers Band, Randy Newman and Mozart. Though Colleen has played and studied guitar and violin, piano remains her concentration. Grounded in the classical repertoire, Colleen discovered jazz in high school where she played piano in a big band.

Colleen holds a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from the University of Nebraska where she also secured a minor in music technology. She has composed for solo instruments, jazz combo, chamber ensembles and film; her score for Jack Hoppe’s “Breakdown” was premiered at the 2018 Omaha Film Festival.

Since 2014, Colleen has been a partner in the Carney-Terrall piano team. The duo has performed in Colorado, Alaska, Washington and Oregon and they won the United States International Duo Piano Competition in 2016. Colleen is passionate about sharing her love of music with her students at Vesper. She finds immense joy in helping them overcome difficulties and tackle obstacles in their musical lives.

When not teaching, Colleen happily finds time to rehearse with her duo partner, accompany various ensembles and dance classes and hike in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
